William Merritt Chase

From February11th to May 28th by the Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna Ca ' Pesaro, you can visit the exhibition of William Merritt Chase (1849-1916): a painter between New York and Venice. It is a major retrospective, in absolute European preview, dicated to the American artist, organized and co-produced beween  The Phillips Collection, Washington, d.c., Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Terra Foundation for American Art and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.

The exhibition, organized under the direction of Gabriella Belli (Director of Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia), Dorothy Kosinski (Director of The Phillips Collection) and Matthew Teitelbaum (Ann and Graham Gund Director Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), curated by Elsa Smithgall, Erica e. Hirshler, Katherine m. Bourguignon and Giovanna Ginex, presents around sixty works by Chase, besides the only artwork of Chase present in Italy – Self-Portrait (1908) – which reaches Venice exceptionally on loan from the Uffizi Gallery.
